BKK23 – Bangkok off the beaten track ( private tour )
Daily departure from Bangkok , but only as a private tour.
We start at 08.00 AM from your hotel.
In older days daily commerce in Thailand was conducted mostly along the canals (or klongs in Thai). Bangkok water network was busy and served as the principal means of communication causing Bangkok to be called the Venice of the East by the early European visitors. The klongs still exert considerable charm, as does the Maenam Chao Phraya ( River of Kings ) which flows through Bangkok .
A transfer from your hotel to the Chao Phraya River and by the local express boat to Nontaburi. A fascinating way of travelling, a lot of whistling, backwards and forwards and one hour later, we will arrive at Nontaburi Pier.
We thereafter take the medium long tail speedboat to Bang Yai, hold on to your hat and sunglasses and approx. 20 minutes later, we will arrive at Wat Bang Yai, with the second biggest reclining Buddha in Bangkok . The streets are very narrow, the traffic is different, the contrasts are enormous, the locals are not at all used to foreigners here and we will cause a lot of curious attention. We visit the local market in Bang Yai and we are of course also going to taste some the exciting tropical fruits.
The former premier minister is a frequent visitor to Bang Yai and the very local restaurant, where we will have our lunch, fried rice with chicken and vegetables.
To get into the smallest klongs, we now have to take the smallest long tail speed boats, one speed boat can comfortably carry 4 foreigners and again hold on to your hat and glasses. It does not look like Bangkok at all (you are only 2 hours away from your hotel) and now on the way into the unknown Bangkok . The nature is fantastic green, the silence and once in a while another boat passing by, a palace and next door, a house almost falling apart and all the locals smiling and waving.
The boat ride by the smallest long tail speed boats takes one hour and once back in Bang Yai, we will after stretching our legs take the biggest long tail speed boat back to Bangkok and the Grand Palace (the entrance fee to the Grand Palace is not included), where we will arrive approx. 45 minutes later and end tour.
Tour Includes: Transportation from hotel, lunch, entrance fees and English speaking guide. No beverages included.
